a.     The RORC have now finalised their dates for 2007 and the JOG have posted provisional dates. As some of you wish to minimise time off work (and because of other bookings) the following is how it is shaping up

2.     Weight saving aloft

a.      Bear of Britain skipper Brett Aarons (who often sails on Anticipation for fun) has confirmed how we can save as much as 4-5kg in our rig by simple work on our running rigging so we have started on that. No compromise in the standing rigging of course.

3.     AIS – radar

a.      At this stage we will have the AIS radar in place of a dedicated radar

b.     And we may install a navtex

c.     This is in addition to the computer and software

d.     So we will double up the domestic batteries

4.     16 x 40.7s in the Fastnet?

a.      This month I have asked the other 40.7 owners and charter businesses who else intends to participate in the 2007 Fastnet. I was surprised to be told of 15 others who intend to enter at this stage and there may yet be more including from overseas.

b.     This certainly makes us one of the most popular classes and will provide great racing amongst ourselves in addition to the rest of the yachts
